Ancient Sitka Collection

Ancient Sitka spruce comes from Craig, Alaska. A tree that had been underground for thousands of years was discovered when Brent Cole was breaking ground for his new shop. As soon as it was cut into, the color changed from the usual yellow-tan of Sitka Spruce to a blue-gray as the oxygen reached the parts that had been soaked in minerals for so long. This tree gave us the gift of beautiful tone woods with a story. Ancient Sitka has been used for guitars, mandolins, and ukuleles.

Second Life Guitar

The Second Life Guitar is full of stories. The top is from a piano soundboard. The headstock inlayed letter “R” is from the piano’s ivoroid keys. The back and sides are from a stair, and the headstock inlay is three nails from the stair. Lastly, the neck is made from a piece of decking from the Chicago World’s Fair. All of these parts come from pieces made in the late 1800’s.
